At Red Tape Busters we have contracted the services of a diverse group of Consultants on an as needed basis who are specialists in our areas of expertise and in working directly with our clients to deliver quality services. We are particularly conscious of our clients’ requirements – both from a business/operational view point and financially.
Red Tape Busters is very fortunate to have engaged the services of a highly professional and competent group of Consultants who work directly with each client case managing the entire project from start to finish.
Our entire team is committed to providing quality services to our clients at all times and developing innovative strategies aimed at producing consistent results. An overview of the skills and expertise of our staff follows:-
Shane Bowering – Managing Director of Red Tape Busters
He brings over twenty years of experience in liaising, consulting, negotiating with and advising members of the public, industry bodies and public sector employees on Government strategies and objectives, legislation and processes.
Having been on the inside Shane understands the workings of Government and therefore can provide specialist advice to our clients and direction to our consultants on how best to achieve their required outcomes. He also has significant experience in reviewing and restructuring business units within Government Departments and realigning work processes to achieve both productivity dividends and financial savings and as such he works with many businesses and non profit organisations to improve their accountability, professionalism and bottom line.
Shane is also our ‘media tart’ appearing regularly on A Current Affair, The Today Show and Channel 9 News while also having featured regularly on radio in Brisbane on River 94.9 FM with Danny Hoyland on Saturday mornings and weekday mornings on 4BC talkback with Greg Cary.
Janelle Hart – Manager, Financial Services
Janelle’s key role at Red Tape Busters is to oversee the financial performance of the company. She holds responsibility for invoicing clients, undertaking financial planning activities, monitoring income and expenditure, resolving outstanding debts and liaising with clients regarding financial management issues.
As mentioned we engage Consultants on an as needed basis depending on the requirements and volume of clients and at present we have the following Consultants on our books.
Lesleigh Feuerriegel – Marketing Consultant
Her commitment and primary focus is to supply professional services which assist will assist us in expanding our clientele over time.
Rob Lillystone, Professional Consultant
Always concerned with good practice processes and aligning people to business objectives, Rob was tempted into the Public Service to work on a major initiative to establish a National Standard for the development of people inside organisations. He helped research, design and pilot this new Government framework, Investors in People, used to assist companies get the best out of their human resources. Investors in People, is still operating 20 years later.
Rob has worked for the Queensland Government for 12 years as a Business Adviser to small and medium sized enterprises, and Deputy Manager of a Regional Office. Relevant achievements include:-
- Liaising with three levels of government to secure funding for economic development projects
- Grant identification and administration for clients
- Internal process design and training of officers to assist clients with tendering for government business
- Selection criteria design and recruitment panel membership for government vacancies
- Successful applications for secondment and promotion interviews
In 2009 Rob worked during long service leave as a volunteer on a community project to better connect service providers within a region. Plugging an identified gap, Rob acted as coach to help individuals with resumes and improve their employability skills.
Rob has skills to focus in on the most meaningful and important aspects of a project, is mindful of deadlines and is very results orientated.
Tanaz Byramji (BA Professional Communication) Professional Consultant
Tanaz’s career path spans a range of positions in government, not-for-profit and career support organisations. She has worked with high profile individuals, political figures, government agencies, small businesses and individuals seeking assistance in all manner of documentation.
She has experience preparing a diverse range of written materials from grant applications, business plans and policy proposals to strategy documents, professional biographies, resumes, manuals, legal educational material, website copy and speeches.
Tanaz blends communications theory with industry research and advanced writing techniques to ensure she communicates the right message – every time.
Her professional integrity, reliable approach and unquestioning commitment to quality is complemented by excellent client consultation skills. She works closely with clients to help negotiate a path through bureaucracy and achieve their goals. We are excited with having Tanaz join our team to give us another highly skilled Consultant plus to assist us in our quest to tap into the Melbourne market.
Paul Redmond, Professional Consultant
Paul has more than 20 years experience as a Logistics and Procurement Officer with Government after being employed by both the Federal and Queensland Governments. Paul’s most recent position in government was as a Senior Procurement Advisor for the Department of Education and Training.
A couple of years ago Paul decided to try something different and opened his own Cleaning and Mowing business but found he missed the interaction with people of all walks of life. So Paul has decided to offer his wealth of procurement experience to Red Tape Busters.
Paul has sat on and helped evaluate tenders for a wide variety of government requirements, for example:- Cleaning Consumables, Food, Timber, Electrical Consumables and for services such as the Supply of Security Services and Rubbish Removal to government owned enterprises throughout Queensland. Having being tasked with the Contract Management of the arrangements put in place, also required Paul to have strong verbal and written communication skills. These skills included the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of business from the C.E.O. to the delivery driver.
With the knowledge he has gained from writing and evaluating government tenders, Paul now can help businesses both large and small with their tender/grant submissions.
Iola Ternel, Professional Consultant
Iola has worked for Red Tape Busters for 12 months and during this time has written successful grant applications and tenders for clients.
Sharon Knight, Professional Consultant
While Sharon is highly skilled in all aspects of training and development, she also has significant experience in preparing and assessing grants and in writing complex Government briefing papers and reports. As such Sharon is motivated to engage with our clients, build rapport and to work with them to ensure the best possible outcomes are achieved. We look forward to Sharon contributing her significant expertise in working with our clients.
James Collins, Computer Systems Programmer/Systems Analyst
James is now working on a number of projects with our clients and in one situation is developing and integrating complex databases which will enhance and facilitate extensive marketing and sale initiatives. James brings a wealth of IT knowledge and experience to Red Tape Busters and our clients. We are developing an extensive network of business support specialists so that we can assist our clients with any support from wordprocessing to web design, to policy and procedure development to workplace/health and safety/quality systems to recruitment processes etc.
Michelle Scurry, Professional Consultant
Michelle subsequently moved onto an important role as a Risk Assessor and Quality Analyst with the Australian Skills Quality Authority where she was instrumental in reviewing and improving the assessment policies and processes. In this role Michelle researched relevant legislation while conducting a gap analysis of operations, policies and obligations to stakeholders. As such Michelle was responsible for preparing and documenting risk business rules, standardised procedures and process maps and manuals for the implementation of standardised practices.
Michelle brings a wealth of experience to Red Tape Busters with respect to the requirements of RTO’s and as such Michelle will be the lead Consultant in our new Registered Training Organisation Support Services arm of the business. Michelle also brings a great depth of experience in the grant and tender writing environ and this experience will be of great benefit to our clients.
Helen Downs, Professional Consultant (Bachelor of Laws)
Helen Downs is an author, researcher and writer, with a keen eye for punctuation, spelling and grammar. Helen will prove to be an effervescent addition to the Red Tape Busters team and a bonus to our diverse clientele.

Deborah Killalea, Professional Consultant
Katrina Vaughan, Professional Consultant
Katrina has more than twenty years’ experience working for Government and the private sector. She held a long-serving and passionate work experience history with the Queensland Government, across diverse and wide-ranging areas such as customer service, business/account and vendor management, project management and support, business analysis, executive support and administration. These skills ultimately culminating in appointment to a Managerial level for 9 years within one of the largest Qld Government Information Technology Branches. She understands service objectives and has the ability to capture business requirements through active listening and questioning techniques. Katrina is a true team player who always goes “above and beyond” to get the job done. Kat as we call her will be a great addition to the RTB team.
Lynne Hayes, Professional Consultant
Peter Lind, Professional Consultant, B.Bus (Comn)
Peter has over 29 years’ experience working in government, education and community organisations. From 1981 to 1997 Peter worked in a variety of roles in Queensland Departments of Main Roads and Queensland Transport. In 1997 Peter decided to pursue his educational aspirations and completed a Business degree from QUT with a double major in Communication and Management. Peter has since devoted his career to improving the lives of Australians through his work in a national Indigenous organisation, as CEO of the SEQ CDEP and Indigenous Employment Centre and various roles in the Australian and Queensland Governments and University sector. Peter has managed teams of professionals as well as managing national and State-wide projects in the education and employment areas. As a Manager in the Department of Attorney-General, Peter managed the Queensland Work-Life Balance Strategy, The Queensland Manufacturing Improvement Strategy, and was a member of The Queensland Taxi Advisory Committee. Peter brings a wealth of public sector and community engagement experience to Red Tape Busters and will be a great asset to our business and our clients.
Debbie Finnis, Professional Consultant
Debbie has over thirty years experience in the public and university sectors. She has worked in many senior Human Resource roles and is very experienced in Leadership development. Debbie is an experienced coach and facilitator. She has worked in many organisations undergoing change or requiring assistance to build team capability. Debbie has also assisted many individuals and organisations with the preparation of written materials such as applications, resume writing, reports and policy documents. Helping others to achieve the best results is Debbie’s passion and she brings a wealth of experience and positivity to each and every assignment. Debbie brings significant experience in public sector writing, leadership and personal development to Red Tape Busters.
Trish Nixon, Professional Consultant
Beginning in a rural/remote area Trish worked with The School of Distance Education, then changed direction and worked in hospitality and retail. Trish also has significant experience in managing and running her family transportation and agricultural businesses. In the non profit world, Trish also has substantial experience, having served on the executive for two separate not-for –profit organisations while volunteering to assist various charity organisations in the community. Through her business experience Trish has developed and implemented policies and procedures across a variety of industries. Trish also has fantastic grant writing experience being highly successful in winning grants for the non profit organisations she has assisted. Trish will be a great addition to the Red Tape Busters team and she now gives us a presence in Central Queensland. Given the developments in technology though Trish will; be able to work with our clients all over Australia just like the rest of our Consultants who are spread from South East Queensland To Victoria and down to Tasmania.
Jenny Horchner-Wilson, Professional Consultant
I have over 32 years’ experience in the education sector having been employed with Education Qld over this time. In my role as a Principal and in other roles in an educational setting, I have been required to prepare a range of correspondence and yes work on grant funding applications. As such I have an excellent knowledge of grant funding – specifically from a school based and educational context.
For a number of years I worked as a Curriculum Developer. My role was to ensure that the products being developed were inclusive of the needs of students with disabilities. Therefore the majority of my work was that of editor, writer, creator and as such I really have outstanding wordsmithing skills.
I have a Diploma in Teaching (Special Education), a Graduate Diploma in Special Education (Hearing Impairment), and a Master of Education (Curriculum Development) degree. I also have been a sessional lecturer of students undertaking a Bachelor of Special Education. I am excited by this opportunity to work with Red Tape Busters and help our clients including schools access some much needed funding.
Troy Pettiford, Professional Consultant
Troy is a new addition to our team. Troy brings a broad range of customer service and outstanding wordsmithing skills to Red Tape Busters. Troy has over 22 years’ experience working within the local government sphere. Troy has a genuine interest in people, grants/subsidies and innovation and welcomes the opportunity to work with our clients in developing their project and business concepts to win funding from a diverse range of programs. Through Troy’s roles within local government, he has established meaningful relationships with key stakeholders including funding bodies, clients, local businesses, and Government departments within the South West region.
Troy has been successful in winning funding totalling $20 million over the last few years. Major Project funding success has been achieved under the following programs:
- WASP – Water & Sewerage Program
- LGGSP – Local Government Grants & Subsidies Program
- R4R – Royalties for The Regions
- DTESB – Department of Tourism, Major Events, Small Business – Home-based Business Grants Program

Lyndal Dooley, Professional Consultant
Lyndall has a wealth of knowledge and experience from over 40 years in administrative roles in private industry and the tertiary sector. Lyndall’s career began in a Brisbane radio station, then progressed through to international music and home video distribution companies after which she moved to the academic arena of a leading research and teaching university where she provided high level service at Faculty level to executives and staff for many years. Lyndall’s ability to understand guidelines and interpret policy, her attention to detail and her ability to use organisational and technical skills ensured her customer’s received a high level of service and achieved the results they required.
Lyndall is a goal oriented, independently productive professional with a proven ability to work autonomously and as a member of a team. She takes pride in attention to detail, being effective and efficient, being proactive, and achieving goals to client satisfaction. Lyndall strives for excellence and high standards of output, has a strong work ethic and aspires to the principles of equity and diversity.

Trish Evans, Professional Consultant
With a career spanning over 30 years Trish has held roles in a variety of industries, which include project management, not-for profit, adult education, employment services, health and real estate. Trish’s qualifications include Diplomas in several areas including Counselling, Youth Work and Disability, Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, Career Development and Business. She enjoys establishing a strong rapport with clients which enables the effective flow of communication and goes towards producing a great result. Trish’s personalised approach involves getting to know the client, and uncovering their hidden strengths. Client satisfaction is vital to Trish, and she will do everything possible to facilitate this. We welcome Trish to the Red Tape Buster fold and believe her wordsmithing skills and experience will prove highly valuable to our clients.
Luke Bowering, Professional Consultant
Luke brings a variety of knowledge and a commitment to excellence to the team. With just a short period left of his studies of a Bachelor of Accounting, Luke has shown a great interest towards the fulfillment of the community, which extends greater than his studies can contribute. He currently volunteers at a local community services not-for-profit group and understands clients’ needs along with his responsibility’s well. With a background as a tradesmen (carpentry) behind him, communication with both his team members and clients is at the forefront to sustainable success. Client satisfaction has been a focal point of his work and he wishes to continue this with Red Tape Busters.
Teresa Kerridge, Professional Consultant
Teresa has years of experience working in administration roles having spent 9 years at Redcliffe and Caboolture Hospitals where she worked across numerous areas including Medical Records, Triage, Ward Receptionist and IT. Teresa has also successfully started and managed her own Photography Business for 6 years specialising in Wedding Video and Photography.
With a love for animals, Teresa also became a Volunteer Wildlife Carer 6 year ago, and she has a passion for caring for and rescuing injured animals.
Teresa is excited to be joining the Red Tape Busters team, and putting her creative writing and administrative skills to the test in working with our business and non profit clients. We are excited to have Teresa on board.
Sharyn Garvey (B. Bus (Marketing and Statistics))
Sharyn has more than 30 years in a range of government, not for profit and private sector positions. A highly skilled, tertiary qualified professional with significant experience in business management, project management, business writing, office management and marketing. She is respected for her passion for research and translating this information into written form to formulate successful tenders and grant submissions.
Sharyn’s career path spans a range of positions with large training companies, not for profit, federal government and micro businesses alike.
Experienced with preparing a diverse range of written materials from business reports, strategy documents, policies and procedures, business and marketing plans, tenders, manuals, website and print media advertising.
With the knowledge, she has gained from writing proposals and tenders and a range of business documents, Sharyn now can help businesses both large and small with their tender/grant submissions. Her committed approach to thorough research and succinct persuasive communication puts her in good stead to achieve client goals.
