At Red Tape Busters we have contracted the services of a diverse group of Consultants on an as needed basis who are specialists in our areas of expertise and in working directly with our clients to deliver quality services. We are particularly conscious of our clients’ requirements – both from a business/operational view point and financially.
Red Tape Busters is very fortunate to have engaged the services of a highly professional and competent group of Consultants who work directly with each client case managing the entire project from start to finish.
Our entire team is committed to providing quality services to our clients at all times and developing innovative strategies aimed at producing consistent results. An overview of the skills and expertise of our staff follows:-
Shane Bowering – Managing Director of Red Tape Busters
He brings over twenty years of experience in liaising, consulting, negotiating with and advising members of the public, industry bodies and public sector employees on Government strategies and objectives, legislation and processes.
Having been on the inside Shane understands the workings of Government and therefore can provide specialist advice to our clients and direction to our consultants on how best to achieve their required outcomes. He also has significant experience in reviewing and restructuring business units within Government Departments and realigning work processes to achieve both productivity dividends and financial savings and as such he works with many businesses and non profit organisations to improve their accountability, professionalism and bottom line.
Shane is also our ‘media tart’ appearing regularly on A Current Affair, The Today Show and Channel 9 News while also having featured regularly on radio in Brisbane on River 94.9 FM with Danny Hoyland on Saturday mornings and weekday mornings on 4BC talkback with Greg Cary.
Janelle Hart – Manager, Financial Services
Janelle’s key role at Red Tape Busters is to oversee the financial performance of the company. She holds responsibility for invoicing clients, undertaking financial planning activities, monitoring income and expenditure, resolving outstanding debts and liaising with clients regarding financial management issues.
As mentioned we engage Consultants on an as needed basis depending on the requirements and volume of clients and at present we have the following Consultants on our books.
Rob Lillystone, Professional Consultant
Always concerned with good practice processes and aligning people to business objectives, Rob was tempted into the Public Service to work on a major initiative to establish a National Standard for the development of people inside organisations. He helped research, design and pilot this new Government framework, Investors in People, used to assist companies get the best out of their human resources. Investors in People, is still operating 20 years later.
Rob has worked for the Queensland Government for 12 years as a Business Adviser to small and medium sized enterprises, and Deputy Manager of a Regional Office. Relevant achievements include:-
- Liaising with three levels of government to secure funding for economic development projects
- Grant identification and administration for clients
- Internal process design and training of officers to assist clients with tendering for government business
- Selection criteria design and recruitment panel membership for government vacancies
- Successful applications for secondment and promotion interviews
In 2009 Rob worked during long service leave as a volunteer on a community project to better connect service providers within a region. Plugging an identified gap, Rob acted as coach to help individuals with resumes and improve their employability skills.
Rob has skills to focus in on the most meaningful and important aspects of a project, is mindful of deadlines and is very results orientated.
Paul Redmond, Professional Consultant
Paul has more than 20 years experience as a Logistics and Procurement Officer with Government after being employed by both the Federal and Queensland Governments. Paul’s most recent position in government was as a Senior Procurement Advisor for the Department of Education and Training.
A couple of years ago Paul decided to try something different and opened his own Cleaning and Mowing business but found he missed the interaction with people of all walks of life. So Paul has decided to offer his wealth of procurement experience to Red Tape Busters.
Paul has sat on and helped evaluate tenders for a wide variety of government requirements, for example:- Cleaning Consumables, Food, Timber, Electrical Consumables and for services such as the Supply of Security Services and Rubbish Removal to government owned enterprises throughout Queensland. Having being tasked with the Contract Management of the arrangements put in place, also required Paul to have strong verbal and written communication skills. These skills included the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of business from the C.E.O. to the delivery driver.
With the knowledge he has gained from writing and evaluating government tenders, Paul now can help businesses both large and small with their tender/grant submissions.
Iola Ternel, Professional Consultant
Iola has worked for Red Tape Busters for 12 months and during this time has written successful grant applications and tenders for clients.
James Collins, Computer Systems Programmer/Systems Analyst
James is now working on a number of projects with our clients and in one situation is developing and integrating complex databases which will enhance and facilitate extensive marketing and sale initiatives. James brings a wealth of IT knowledge and experience to Red Tape Busters and our clients. We are developing an extensive network of business support specialists so that we can assist our clients with any support from wordprocessing to web design, to policy and procedure development to workplace/health and safety/quality systems to recruitment processes etc.

Tim is an open-minded, lateral thinker who enjoys exploring creative solutions with you to produce winning submissions. His knack for researching and analysing complex information and presenting it through clear, concise, accurate and engaging language tailored to the target audience means you have a focused consultant dedicated to your success.

Trish Nixon, Professional Consultant
Beginning in a rural/remote area Trish worked with The School of Distance Education, then changed direction and worked in hospitality and retail. Trish also has significant experience in managing and running her family transportation and agricultural businesses. In the non profit world, Trish also has substantial experience, having served on the executive for two separate not-for –profit organisations while volunteering to assist various charity organisations in the community. Through her business experience Trish has developed and implemented policies and procedures across a variety of industries. Trish also has fantastic grant writing experience being highly successful in winning grants for the non profit organisations she has assisted. Trish will be a great addition to the Red Tape Busters team and she now gives us a presence in Central Queensland. Given the developments in technology though Trish will; be able to work with our clients all over Australia just like the rest of our Consultants who are spread from South East Queensland To Victoria and down to Tasmania.
Jenny Horchner-Wilson, Professional Consultant
I have over 32 years’ experience in the education sector having been employed with Education Qld over this time. In my role as a Principal and in other roles in an educational setting, I have been required to prepare a range of correspondence and yes work on grant funding applications. As such I have an excellent knowledge of grant funding – specifically from a school based and educational context.
For a number of years I worked as a Curriculum Developer. My role was to ensure that the products being developed were inclusive of the needs of students with disabilities. Therefore the majority of my work was that of editor, writer, creator and as such I really have outstanding wordsmithing skills.
I have a Diploma in Teaching (Special Education), a Graduate Diploma in Special Education (Hearing Impairment), and a Master of Education (Curriculum Development) degree. I also have been a sessional lecturer of students undertaking a Bachelor of Special Education. I am excited by this opportunity to work with Red Tape Busters and help our clients including schools access some much needed funding.
Lyndal Dooley, Professional Consultant
Lyndall has a wealth of knowledge and experience from over 40 years in administrative roles in private industry and the tertiary sector. Lyndall’s career began in a Brisbane radio station, then progressed through to international music and home video distribution companies after which she moved to the academic arena of a leading research and teaching university where she provided high level service at Faculty level to executives and staff for many years. Lyndall’s ability to understand guidelines and interpret policy, her attention to detail and her ability to use organisational and technical skills ensured her customer’s received a high level of service and achieved the results they required.
Lyndall is a goal oriented, independently productive professional with a proven ability to work autonomously and as a member of a team. She takes pride in attention to detail, being effective and efficient, being proactive, and achieving goals to client satisfaction. Lyndall strives for excellence and high standards of output, has a strong work ethic and aspires to the principles of equity and diversity.

Luke Bowering, Professional Consultant
Luke brings a variety of knowledge and a commitment to excellence to the team. With just a short period left of his studies of a Bachelor of Accounting, Luke has shown a great interest towards the fulfillment of the community, which extends greater than his studies can contribute. He currently volunteers at a local community services not-for-profit group and understands clients’ needs along with his responsibility’s well. With a background as a tradesmen (carpentry) behind him, communication with both his team members and clients is at the forefront to sustainable success. Client satisfaction has been a focal point of his work and he wishes to continue this with Red Tape Busters.
Teresa Kerridge, Professional Consultant
Teresa has years of experience working in administration roles having spent 9 years at Redcliffe and Caboolture Hospitals where she worked across numerous areas including Medical Records, Triage, Ward Receptionist and IT. Teresa has also successfully started and managed her own Photography Business for 6 years specialising in Wedding Video and Photography.
With a love for animals, Teresa also became a Volunteer Wildlife Carer 6 year ago, and she has a passion for caring for and rescuing injured animals.
Teresa is excited to be joining the Red Tape Busters team, and putting her creative writing and administrative skills to the test in working with our business and non profit clients. We are excited to have Teresa on board.
Jeremy Westell, Professional Consultant
Jeremy brings 25 years of technical writing experience to RTB having significant background in the aviation / airline industries. More recently in the aviation regulation environment Jeremy was responsible for liaising at the federal government level and advising on current airspace policy and regulation to government staff as well as broader stakeholders in the aviation industry and preparing draft policy and procedural documentation. With compliance focus and experience in writing high level technical and policy/procedural documents Jeremy brings an amazing skillset to Red Tape Busters and to our clients. We are lucky to have him on board.
Andrew Hamilton, Professional Consultant
Andrew has more than 17 years senior management experience in government and the not-for-profit sector and has worked in federated and unitary structures including organisations in sport, allied health, charities and disability areas at local community, state and national level.
Working in member-based organisations, Andrew has extensive experience transforming organizations to create an environment that delivers operational excellence and enables an organization to expand its services capacity and capability.
Using an evidence base, Andrew identifies trends and changes in the climate, has developed and successfully re-positioned organizations that has developed best practice service standards to the various stakeholders, enabled excellent customer experiences at every touchpoint and expanded the capacity of organizations that has increased membership by more than 25% and achieved a 95% member retention rate.
Andrew has developed and implemented governance reform programs, developed, implemented and maintained strategic plans, Board succession plans, financial and operational governance restructures, addressed solvency issues, undertaken turn-around strategies and identified and diversified revenue streams via major commercial projects.
Andrew has a collaborative work style, a client centric focus, strong problem solving and analytical capabilities and an ability to build rapport with people of all backgrounds. Andrew is a great addition to the Red Tape Busters team and while he will work with clients across Australia, his knowledge of the needs of NSW and Sydney clients will be invaluable.
Carolyn Rothwell, Professional Consultant
Carolyn has worked in both the private and public sector for over twenty years with extensive experience in both non-profit and commercial organisations. She spent fifteen years working in the human services field before delving into the world of tourism, event planning and social media marketing. For several years Carolyn has been responsible for coordinating every aspect of high end corporate events, with delegates steaming from health professionals to members of parliament. Carolyn has held several positions in which developing sponsorship opportunities and writing grant applications were her core business. She is also well versed in policy and procedure development as well as resume and selection criteria writing.
Carolyn is thoroughly organised and a meticulous planner who believes in thinking creatively to achieve positive results. She is not afraid of a challenge and will work with you every step of the way to ensure the best outcome possible.
Karyl Perrett, Professional Consultant
Jo Lambert, Professional Consultant
She then went on to utilise her teaching and training skills in the Public Sector, planning and delivering employment skills programs before working abroad for large financial services companies and small Not for profit organisations who dealt with resource sustainability. Her advanced administration, communication and relationship building skills led her to work back in Australia predominantly within the Mining, Maintenance and Construction industry.
Jo has worked as a HSE Co-ordinator and onsite trainer compiling and delivering induction and onboarding programs on many major shutdown products and new contracts down the East Coast of Australia. She has furthered her study in this area and holds a Diploma in Health and Safety and will be able to support small businesses and Not for profit organisations with keeping updated and compliant.
Throughout Jo’s teenage years she was involved in many sporting endeavours including representing her country in Springboard Diving. Her family, community and peers spent countless hours fundraising and generating funds so she could attend training camps overseas and compete at various competitions, so she is excited to work within the community to secure grants to enable young sports people and clubs to reach their full potential. Jo brings a fabulous range of skills to our team and her experience in WHS system development and in writing grants will be a great bonus for our clients.
